Netflow Analyzer won't update since OpManager migration to MSSQL
We moved our OpManager and Netflow Analyzer to a new server a few months
back and when I moved this, I migrated OpManager to MSSQL. Even since
then I can run updates on OpManager but when I try to update Netflow, it
just sits there. I open the UpdateManager and point the correct ppm file
and click Install and it just sits there forever. Netflow runs just
fine but I can't update it all. The only thing I can think of is
changing OpManager over to MSSQL.
Any ideas?
Thanks

A new interface each day for the PPPoE connection
Hi,
I'm using the free 10 interfaces version of NetFlow Analyzer to monitor my home network (Ubiquity Edgerouter Pro). The router will give 3 interfaces by default when I check it with SNMP (set to "IfNames"):
- eth0
- eth1
- pppoe0
Unfortunately my ISP does a forced reconnection every 24 hours (even with my business VDSL connection with a fixed IP) which I've forced into the night using a reconnection script.
With each reconnection the PPPoE interface got a new index, but it's keeping its name. However, NetFlow Analyzer seems to have a bug not recognizing the name in this case but adding the updated PPPoE interface as a new interface.
So, after the first night I see these interfaces:
- eth0
- eth1
- pppoe0 (dead)
- IfIndex 112
In the next night:
- eth0
- eth1
- pppoe0 (dead)
- IfIndex 112 (dead)
- IfIndex 113
... and so on.
How do i resolve this issue? NFA does not seem to stay with the interface name (which keeps the same) when the PPPoE reconnects, instead it adds a new interface with each reconnection.
So either the problem must be fixed to keep using the interface name (pppoe0) even if the index of the interface changes, or there must be some way to automatically purge dead interfaces (i.e. if an interface did not send any data for 10 minutes, one hour etc.).
Otherwise I need to login as admin day by day to delete the now dead interface, set the speed properties for "this day's pppoe interface index" and so on ... not doing this would let me run out of interfaces within one week.

Re : A new interface each day for the PPPoE connection
Hi Netmax,
Thank you for writing to us. This is
not an issue with Netflow Analyzer but this is how Cisco IOS works.
Eg: After the router re-initialization
(reboot, reload and so on) the conditions change. The ifindex
value of Ethernet port becomes 3, and ifindex value of Token Ring
port to be 1and that of Serial port to be 2. Netflow Analyzer
continues polling the ifIndex 3, which now corresponds to the
Ethernet port.
To resolve this Cisco IOS have a
solution by adding the command "snmp-server ifindex persist".
Please check the below link for more details:

Free up disk space on Netflow Analyzer
Hi All,
I was wondering if it was possible to prune historical data in
Netflow Professional?
We had an issue where the server hosting Netflow ran out of space
yesterday, I added an extra 5 gig to the drive but today Netflow
decided to use up the extra 5 gig.
I've read other posts where its possible to set a retain data
value by going to 'Product Settings --> Storage Settings'
but i'm not seeing Product Settings anywhere in our Netflow.

Re : Free up disk space on Netflow Analyzer
Hi,
Thank you for writing to us. To cleanup some space on the server, stop the Netflow Analyzer service and execute %netflow%\troubleshoot\RAWCleanup.bat
Once done, start the service>> Login to UI>> Admin>> Storage settings>> RAW data settings>> set retain data to 1 hour and save.
