Follow-up from troubleshooting with tech support:

The issue was the server running NetFlow Analyzer needed the ODBC 11 driver. Once it was installed from the SQL install media (i.e. "Media:\1033_ENU_LP\x64\Setup\x64\MSODBCSQL.MSI") and restarting the service, everything worked as expected.

Buongiorno ho scaricato opmanger in prova ,avrei bisogno di abilitare netflow sul firewall ? dalla schermata mi chiede indirizzo ip firewall ,ma non me lo "aggancia" ? Devo attivare altro ?

Hi ,

Thank you for writing to us. Please download and install NetFlow Analyzer Plugin with the below link after stopping the OpManager service. Once done configure the Firewall to export flow to the Opmanager server IP on the UDP port 9996.

For 64bit:

https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/29809517/ManageEngine_OpManager_NetFlow_Plug-In_64bit.exe

For 32 bit:

https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/29809517/ManageEngine_OpManager_NetFlow_Plug-In.exe

Please let us know the model of the Firewall you are monitoring so that we can assist you with the configuration.

Hi,

Syneto UTM doesn't support export of any flow data. Hence it can't be monitored using Netflow Analyzer.

Hi,

If it supports it, kindly configure the device to export Netflow data and check if it works. If it doesn't, then send us the packet capture from the Netflow Analyzer server, we'll check and get back to you.

Attempting to uninstall unable to find Jre

Hello all!

I hope this is the right place to ask. Sorry if it isn't. Let me know if there is a better place.

I installed this on a test machine, I like the product, but the issue is uninstalling it from the test machine.
The test machine is a Ubuntu 14.04 64bit machine. I installed Netflow Analyzer 11.

It installed fine, and functions as it should. However I need to uninstall it.

When I run: ./uninstaller.bin I get the following:

          This application requires a Java Run Time Environment (JRE)
          to run. Searching for one on your computer was not successful.
          Please use the command line switch -is:javahome to specify 
          a valid JRE.  For more help use the option -is:help.

I checked my version of java:
# java -version
java version "1.7.0_75"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.4) (7u75-2.5.4-1~trusty1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.75-b04, mixed mode)

I have tried to point the uninstaller to the jre in /usr/lib/jvm/default-java/jre/ but it does not seem to find it. Heck, I even copied the jre out of the folder for Netflow, and put it on my desktop to try using the jre that comes with it. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I would like to be able ot cleanly uninstall this. If it is as simple as blowing away the /opt/Manageengine directory, I am ok with this, I just need to know.

Hi ,

Thank you for writing to us. Please follow the below steps to uninstall NetFlow Analyzer from Linux:

Linux:

1. Navigate to the <NetFlowAnalyzerHome>/_uninst directory.
2. Execute the command ./uninstaller.bin -console
3. You will be asked to confirm your choice, after which NetFlow Analyzer is uninstalled.
4. If you get any error, please delete the complete ManageEngine Directory from the server.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to us. We don't see any specific error from the screenshot. Kindly terminate all the instances of java.exe and mysqld-nt.exe processes and start the update manager again and check if it works and update us. Make sure you open CMD as Admin and then execute updatemanager.bat.

Since this is big error for uninstallation, my question is this: Can I just remove the directory like your number 4, and be ok? I do not want things hanging around on this machine.

Hi,

Yes, you can delete the folder itself and that will remove all the content from the machine. Make sure that there is no java process running in background before deleting the folder.

Arun,

Your response isn't entirely accurate.  while the product itself might not be using that port, IT is executing VBS scripts for monitoring windows hosts, and those executed VBS scripts are using ports 49154 and 49155. These VBS scripts are the default scripts packaged with OpManager/AppManager.

WARNING: We also found that the AppManager/OpManager applications are passing the account credentials on the command-line of the managers in CLEAR-TEXT, meaning. anyone that can run commands on the server, like psslist, or tasklist, or wmic, will be able to see the credentials (i.e. PASSWORD in clear-text) that is being used to monitor the servers.
